Saturday November 11, 2017 – From the Least to the Greatest, They will All Know Me!
Jeremiah 50 Hebrews 8
Both the passage from Jeremiah and the scripture from Hebrews 8 focus on God’s plan for Israel and what the future will hold. The nation of Israel has always had a special place in God’s plan and even though I don’t always understand the on again and off again attitude of the nation of Israel I am afraid that my own personal life follows a similar pattern of being focused on God and following his commands and then becoming lazy and following my own desires. The hope for the future is captured well towards the end of Hebrews 8. 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, From the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
I know that this isn’t a statement about what things will be like in heaven, but that the world described here will be realized here on earth as part of God’s plan for believers and the nation of Israel. I look forward to that day when “they all will know me!”
