Wednesday November 8, 2017 – We Need Solid Food!
Jeremiah 43-45 Hebrews 5
We are fortunate to have a few small ones as grandchildren in our family. It is amazing to see how fast they all grow up and part of that process is based on eating well and growing physically. They all started on a diet that was solely mother’s milk, but as they grew their need for solid food to support their ongoing growth was evident. Today Hebrews 5 has a portion of scripture that uses that analogy with our spiritual growth. 11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
In order to grow spiritually and discern good from evil it is important for us to progress to the solid food of God’s teaching in the scripture. What is your spiritual appetite today?
